Interior Sliding Doors
Sliding doors are also known as slider doors, gliding doors, or patio doors when they lead to an outdoor space. Some specialised types include pocket doors (which slide into the wall), bypass doors, and bifold doors. At Slide ‘n Space we specialise in Interior sliding doors for bedrooms, bathrooms and interleading doors for a range of interior spaces. We also design, manufacture and install wardrobe sliding doors.
The cost of installing a sliding door varies depending on the materials, size, and complexity of the installation. While higher quality doors and professional installation may be more costly upfront, they can offer better durability and functionality in the long run. We provide installation services for all our interior sliding doors and wardrobe sliding doors.
The main advantage of a sliding door is its space-saving design. Unlike traditional doors, sliding doors don't require swing space, making them an excellent choice for areas with limited room.
Some disadvantages of sliding doors include potential issues with the track gathering dust or debris, which can affect smooth operation. Proper care and maintenance will ensure the longevity of your interior sliding doors.
When choosing a sliding door, consider factors like the size of the opening, material preferences (like wood grain finish or aluminium), glass types (for thermal efficiency and safety), and the overall aesthetic you want to achieve.
Not all traditional swinging doors can be directly converted to sliding doors. Installation of an internal sliding door system might require structural changes or accommodations in the wall. A consultation with a professional will determine the feasibility. However most internal spaces such as bedrooms and bathrooms are perfectly suited to conversion from traditional swing doors to sliding doors with little effort.
The direction should be based on practicality and the layout of the room. Sliding doors often open towards the wall without obstructions. The flow of foot traffic and usability should also be considered when determining the opening direction. Some of our interior sliding doors come standard with a privacy lock which can be fitted to the left or right side of the door. A handle is included with each sliding door which can be fitted to the side you prefer or require.
Installing a Slide ‘n Space interior sliding door is not complex and can be done with some planning, measuring and a little knowledge of wall structures. The majority of our range is designed to be purchased and self installed (DIY). If you are unsure about the process, even with the guidelines and instructions provided, you are more than welcome to Contact Us for assistance.
